Bottom line on cost: If you value your sanity and your budget accuracy, go with the quote that shows every line item. That's Epiroc in this comparison. The competitor who lowballs on the base price? They'll get you on the 'groves charges' — the small, unavoidable extras that add up. (I call them 'groves charges' internally; it's a nickname for those annoying hidden fees that always pop up at the last minute.)
Which Should You Choose?
Let's be practical. Here are my recommendations based on different scenarios:
- Go with Epiroc if: You need reliable specs for carrier matching, your fleet is dispersed globally, or you've been burned by hidden costs before. The premium is worth it.
- Consider the competitor if: You are in a region with excellent local support for that brand, and you have a dedicated procurement team that can audit every line item in their quote. You can save 10–15% on paper — if you're willing to chase down the extras.
Personally? I'd pick Epiroc. But that's the view of someone who has seen the cost of a 'cheap` initial quote spiral into a multi-thousand-dollar surprise. The transparency alone is worth the delta.
